Cartier and More

All that Glitters is real

Italian Feast!

We started the day by going to a fabulous museum exhibit at the Jumex MuseumCartier's design: A living legacy, an exhibition that traces the history of Cartier through a selection of its most iconic jewels. With more than 160 pieces from the legendary Cartier Collection, as well as private collections and archival documents, the exhibition invites the public to delve into the evolution of the Cartier style, the distinctive language of the Maison, its design and know-how.

The jewels were unbelievable! Although I took pictures, in no way do they represent the jewels. The sparkling of diamonds, precious stones and gold just can’t be captured on an iPhone! The galleries were dark with the showcases widely separated. It was a very well mounted show. We all agreed it would have been improved if the stones were labeled. Even I could recognize the Diamonds, Sapphires and Emeralds the other stones were a mystery to us. We walked through the galleries amazed at the beauty and wealth the jewelry represents. I kept thinking: What a perfect place for a heist movie. It was like in all the Ocean 11 movies with the jewels ready to be stolen. I am sure the security although unobtrusive to us is immense.

We then went shopping at this great folk art shop (not for jewelry thank God) and Guillermo volunteered to schlep our fragile ceramics back to the States. We greatly appreciate his friendship and assistance.

After our shopping spree we had a delicious Italian dinner with out hairdresser Juvencio and his friend Claudia at Bella Aurora. We recommend it if you are looking for Italian food in Mexico City.

We leave Friday and I won’t bother to report the ridiculousness of the exit process I am going through. Basically I (and not Cathy) am caught up in a very screwed up automated new Passport System. Everyone assures me it will be sorted out at the airport. I am sure it will be, if not I might be spending the rest of my life in CDMX. After all of the anxiety of the exit process I had to go through, it was a nothing burger. We just were waved through. Our flight was delayed a couple of hours but we spent time in Centurion Lounge which was overcrowded and then moved to the Aeromex Premium Lounge which was nicer!
